We have options to pay your account whether you are a Canadian or International student. See below for more details.
Payment Processing Times
Although a payment you make may result in an immediate debit transaction on your bank account, York does not instantly receive it.
Payments made from a major Canadian bank can take up to four business days while payment made from other institutions may take more than four days to process.
Please plan ahead to ensure your payments are received by the due date!
Paying from a Canadian Bank Account
You can pay through your financial institution by telephone or online banking:
- Pay a bill
- The payee is York University
- The account number is your nine-digit York student number on your statement
To pay for a School of Continuing Studies program, visit continue.yorku.ca and click the Enrol button on the relevant program page.
List of major Canadian banks:
- Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD Canada Trust or TD Bank)
- Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)
- Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank)
- Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)
- Bank of Montreal (BMO)
Paying from an International Bank Account
Please be advised that all transactions to and from sanctioned and restricted jurisdictions have been suspended until further notice. If this affects you, please contact Student Support & Advising.
If you live in Canada, we encourage you to set up a Canadian bank account.
Please make all fee payments payable to York University.
We partner with CIBC International Student Pay and Convera GlobalPay to offer secure online payment portals from your international bank to York University. Except for these two service providers, we discourage you from using any third-party intermediaries or agents to make payments.
Never send money or account information to any third party you do not trust!
If you require a refund in the future, payments originally paid from your bank account through these portals will be returned in the same form of payment to the same originating bank account.
Compare their payment options and rates and choose whichever best meets your needs.
Both options feature:
- secure payments in your preferred currency
- competitive foreign exchange rates
- multiple payment options
- payment tracking
- customer-service support

Paying by Loyalty Points
Visit HigherEdPoints.com to use your loyalty program points — such as Aeroplan, TD Rewards and CIBC Aventura — to pay your tuition fees or loans from the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and the Canada Student Grants and Loans program.
Paying through Sponsorship
You must pay your registration deposit if you are a new student as this ensures your enrolment for the upcoming Fall/Winter term. Refer to registration deposit deadlines to secure your spot at York – do not wait for your sponsor to make a payment.
Provide your student account statement to your sponsor and ensure they are adhering to the payment deadline outlined on your statement. Refer to Key Due Dates for reference. Late payment penalties (i.e. interest) will apply if your sponsor does not make a payment by the due date that is outlined on your student account statement.
If you are a First Nations student, please contact the Centre for Indigenous Student Services to learn how a First Nations band can sponsor you.
Paying with a Tuition Waiver
The tuition waiver does not cover costs for:
- Certificate (non-degree) programs
- School of Continuing Studies
- Schulich School of Business Executive Education Centre
- Kellogg-Schulich Executive MBA
The waiver does not cover anything beyond degree programs, such as associated course fees, interest, student health and dental plans, residence fees, course materials, etc.
If you receive a tuition fee waiver you can still apply for Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) funding. You must report the waiver to OSAP, which will factor it into your funding.
