N95 Qualitative Mask Fit-Testing

Our Public Health Nurses are pleased to offer qualitative N95 mask fit-testing for students to fulfil their pre-placement requirements. We offer a variety of 3M N95 mask sizes and testing is done using either the 3M Bitrex® or 3M Saccharin solutions. Testing includes:   

  • Mask selection and limitations 
  • Sensitivity and fit tests 
  • Respirator inspection 
  • Correct donning and doffing 
  • User seal checks 
  • Mask fit test and size certificate

BOOK A FIT-TEST

Preparing for your fit-test: 

  • Facial hair must not interfere with the respirator sealing surface; individuals must be clean shaven 12 to 24 hours prior to fit testing and respirator use (facial hair that does not compromise the respirator’s seal is permitted). 
  • Do not smoke, chew gum or consume any food or drinks at least 20 minutes prior to your fit test. 
  • Plain water is permitted. 
  • Anything you would normally wear (e.g., glasses, hearing aids, etc.) must be worn during the fit-test to ensure an appropriate fit.
